Featured Race of the Week
This weeks featured race is race number 12 at The Meadows on Saturday, July 28th, 2012. There is no doubt PA gaming has in recent years boosted standardbred racing in Pennsylania which now can compete with other top grand circuit events. In comparison, this year’s Meadowlands Pace had a $600K pursue for it’s final and this year’s Adios sits at $500K, pretty amazing as most would consider the Pace to be the most prestigious NA race.
The morning line favorite is Sweet Lou who will break from post four, all signs point to him being the betting and fan favorite as at the draw cheers abound when he drew inside his two main rivals. Sweet Lou is locally owned, trained, and reigned with Dave Palone at the controls.
The main threat likely will come from Thinking Out Loud who will be driven by eight time winning driver John Campbell. In his elim, he needed to close from last to rally for a 3rd place finish to make the final. No doubt he has the strongest closing kick of anyone in the race, but in a short field of 7 that could potentially be paceless, he might not have enough speed to run at.
Another locial contender is A Rocknroll Dance, last year he began his career on the Adios undercard, today he could steal the show. With post 7 though he is at a major disadvanatge as if he sends he likely will get burned up, while sitting from last and letting Sweet Lou waltz around the track likely would leave him too much to do.
Palone has been the leading driver for 23 years at The Meadows with only 1 Adios on his resume, guessing he gets #2 unless John Campbell out drives him.
The full card has 18 action packed races including the late blooming 3 year old pacer Major Look who’s is fresh off a track record at Tioga and having recently defeated American Jewel.
